Friday Tasting – MERF & “The Burn”
Jan 18 @ 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Friday Tasting - MERF & "The Burn" @ Water Street Wines & Spirits
We’ll be pouring 2 wines this afternoon: A Chardonnay from Merf Wines, and “The Burn” Cabernet Sauvignon from Borne of Fire. Two excellent Columbia Valley wines from Washington State. Come try and compare to the California Cab & Chardfrom last week!

“MERF stands for something. More importantly, someone: David ‘Merf’ Merfeld. His journey from Iowa family farmer to Washington winemaker started in brewing, with some interesting detours along the way.

Merf believes in honest, hard work and that’s ingrained in these bottles of American craftsmanship. His wine is something to be discovered, tasted and enjoyed with friends.”

90% Cab & 10% Malbec, “The Burn” is a reclaimed part of Columbia Valley’s growing region “named from legends of early settlers who set fire to the land in the fall to replenish and rejuvenate the grasslands for their horses in the spring”. This Cabernet received 96 Points from James Suckling, 91 Points from Wine & Spirits Magazine, and 90 Points from JebDunnuck.com!

If you’ve ever been curious what it’s like to drink wine from a can or try a pre-made cocktail from a can, now’s your chance! The canned market is exploding from beer, to wine, to spirits, so hop on the train and enjoy a glass or two at a time without wasting the whole bottle.

Class #6 (4/22) – Sherry: Not your grandma’s drink…

This class is a bit selfish, but Kyle loves Sherry/Jerez, so we’re going to taste and learn more about the different styles of sherry because it is so unique and special.
Contrary to what most people think, most Sherry is DRY. Let’s try this strange, magically-versatile, fortified wine from Spain- from dry to lusciously sweet- as we taste Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso, Pedro Ximenez (PX), and yes… higher-quality Cream/Medium Sherry.
