BODEGAS GARZÓN TANNAT RESERVA

$19.99

A juicy, full-bodied wine. Rich purple in color with very fresh aromas reminiscent of red and black fruits such as plums and raspberries, with a delicate spicy nose. In the mouth, it presents a strong personality. Its mature tannins and minerality transform it into a wine with great soil identity.

Roasted game meats are the ideal pairing for this Tannat. The most traditional combination is slowly cooked leg of lamb flavored with sage, mint, garlic and olive oil. It also pairs beautifully with blue cheese and toasted walnuts.

93 Points, Decanter

The focus here, as it is with all of the Garzón wines, is on fruit expression and terroir rather than wood. It’s a wonderfully stylish expression of the variety that handles its alcohol well, showing flavours of bramble and blackberry with darker liquorice, fine-grained tannins and very subtle vanilla spice. Drinking Window 2021 – 2025

92 Points, Wine & Spirits

Germán Bruzzone ferments this tannat in cement, then ages it in a mix of French oak barrels and casks, creating a clean, austerely tannic red that lightens up and feels coastal in the end. It’s frisky with turmeric and green-peppercorn scents, lasting on meaty dark fruit. Structured and savory, this will age well over the next several years, or decant it now for a salad of duck confit.

92 Points, James Suckling

Dark berries with blanched almonds and violets on the nose. Medium to full body. Fine, integrated tannins and a silky texture. Lovely length and juiciness. Drink or hold.

90 Points, Wine Enthusiast

A ripe blackberry aroma mixes with a touch of saline on the nose. The palate of this Tannat from a benchmark vintage is ripe and full in feel. Blackberry jam and spice flavors are ripe and satisfying, while this is warm and complete on the finish.
