Two Western Cape vineyard sites comprise this new addition to the Savage portfolio. If Duncan makes it, we want it. The combination of Stellenbosch and Sanford soils and locations gives this wine its underlying saline minerality. Fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel, concrete eggs, and older casks. Orange blossom, grapefruit, and, well, saline.
TASTING NOTES
Flavors of orange blossom and grapefruit with lovely mineral tension and a fresh saline finish.
VINIFICATION and MATURATION
The Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks, concrete eggs and old barrels. The wine spends four months on lees before being bottled, followed by a further two months in bottle prior to release.

This bright white is light on its feet, with a nice mix of Asian pear, grapefruit pith and white blossom notes that show an underpinning of minerally stone and saline character, ending with a silky finish. Drink now. 4,100 cases made, 3,000 cases imported.
Duncan Savage introduced his own label Savage Wines in 2011. Duncan’s goal is to produce classic and elegant wines. Through his time at Cape Point Vineyards, Duncan has grown to understand maritime vineyards and this knowledge led him to source grapes from maritime and high altitude vineyard sites. He was also inspired by many great older reds from South Africa and abroad that have stood the test of time with moderate alcohol and gentle extraction. The small hand selected parcels of fruit are meticulously sourced from a number of vineyards around the Western Cape. About the name Follow the Line, Duncan became terribly lost while going for the first time to have a look at some Cinsault vineyards he was interested in. He called the farmer for directions who just told him to “volg net die f*kken foon lyn”, which loosely translates to follow the line, which he did and managed to find the vineyard.
